How a spontaneous connection led to my orange citrus glasses being featured among the world's most unique independent eyewear designers.

Some of the best things in life happen when you least expect them. This is the story of how my Citrus polarized sunglasses, a design I poured my heart into, ended up on the floor of Vision Expo 2026 in Orlando, standing alongside some of the most remarkable independent eyewear designers in the world. And it all started with a yacht party in Miami.
The night everything changed
I decided to attend the Vision Expo pre-party, a gathering held on a yacht right here in Miami. I wasn't entirely sure what to expect, but I showed up as myself, ready to connect. As the evening unfolded, I found myself at a table with Nico Roseillier, the creative force behind NOW 2026. We talked, we laughed, and then naturally I pulled out my orange citrus glasses and let them speak for themselves.
"He really liked them. And just like that, he asked if I'd want to have them featured in the show."
I said yes without hesitation, even though I had never been to Vision Expo before and had absolutely no idea what I was walking into. Sometimes, that's exactly the energy you need.
Stepping into something bigger
Walking into Vision Expo for the first time was truly eye-opening, no pun intended. My Citrus glasses were displayed alongside some of the most unique, thoughtfully crafted independent eyewear in the industry. It was humbling. It was validating. And it reminded me why I started Ison Couture in the first place.
This industry can feel incredibly lonely at times. There aren't many of us in the independent sunglasses space, and building a brand without the massive budgets of Ray-Ban or Oakley is a quiet, persistent kind of work. But being at Vision Expo showed me something powerful: there is a thriving community of independent designers who are carving their own lane, supporting one another, and proving that creativity and vision can hold their own against the giants.
What this moment means
This feature felt like an affirmation. The Citrus glasses were born from a love of bold design, plant-based materials, and luxury without compromise, and to have them recognized on a stage like Vision Expo means the world.
